Iain Matthews first gained public attention in 1967 as a founding member and vocalist for the innovative music group Fairport Convention. In 1970 he created his own band Matthews Southern Comfort and had a worldwide hit with Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’. During the 1980s Matthews turned his attention to the business of music as an A&R person for both Island and Windham Hill Records, but was encouraged by Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin to rekindle his creative flame. In 2000 Matthews moved to the Netherlands where he currently lives and works.
Philadelphia Guitarist/Multi-instrumentalist Jim Fogarty has been touring and recording with Iain for 30+ years, in addition to his own solo and in-demand session and accompaniment work. Playing guitar, mandolin, dobro, pedal and lap steel, plus pretty much anything else he gets his hands on, Fogarty is known for his ability to back-up singer/songwriters and cover everything from folk, pop, rock to twangy roots, country and blues, convincingly, but with his own unique voice.
Matthews and Fogarty are releasing their first live CD in September of 2021, “Heart of Saturday Night”.
